I had decided to quit acting. No turning back, I'm gonna go back to school and become a nurse and a singer songwriter on the side. Nevermind the fact that I hate needles and feel other peoples pain. They made good money and Im ready to be a normal person cause actors aint normal. Im sitting at my job excited about this new life Im about to embark upon. No more auditions. I can wear long fingernails with different colors and a different wig everyday if I want. I no longer have to look like my headshot for fear of not being cast in something if I dont. I can breathe now. No more living for the dream and all that its taken out of me for the last 19 years. Then my phone beeps. Its an email about an audition I went on about 1 month ago. The email reads that the director has chosen me for the role of "Clarisse" in a film titled "Killswitch". This was the films name before it was changed to NO SUDDEN MOVE!!!! Dude. The directors name was Steven Soderbergh. I began to scream and jump and laugh and forgot all about my plans to quit acting. The co worker in the next room immediately sensed my joy and attributed it to a "booking". All of my co workers at the time, knew I was an actor and singer. What I didn't know was that a global pandemic was about to run through the entire planet and we'd all look like surgeons everyday when leaving the house. The year was 2020. Everyone around me became sick and eventually I did too. The production was postponed and then finally, that November, we filmed. The day was November 6th, 2020. I got dressed to go to set, from the hotel they put me in. I got in the white van to be taken over and when it was time for me to go into the trailer, I soon realized what was happening to me. It was the best day of my acting life. The makeup and hair ladies completed their task and in walks in the most beautiful man I've ever seen...Mr Benicio Del Toro. Yes ladies. He is every bit of handsome in person as he is on the screen. I melted inside while saying "hello, nice to meet you". He said "welcome" and gave me a fist bump. I don't get star struck. I've had the opportunity of working with very accomplished entertainers before. However, this cast was the caliber of actors I personally asked God to allow me to work with one day and I'm assuming that prayer broke through! I can't remember exactly if someone told me I'd be playing opposite Don Cheadle. When I got to set, he was talking to the director and as soon as I caught his eye, he waved. Then he walked over. While he was walking I told myself to calm down and be professional. You ain't a fan today sis, you're a co worker. So, then he begins to run down the scene and how we should play it. I shook my head in agreement to anything he said because...listen...when a master of the craft is giving you direction for a scene, you take it. I hear action, I listen for my cue, I come around from behind the wall of the set and I make movie magic. I continue to work as an actor still. Of course, I love it. However, that day? ....was the Best Day of My Acting Life.
Best Acting Day Of My Life!
